It is possible to check whether the diaphragm has failed by slightly opening the pre-charge valve with the appropriate tool; if water comes out, it is most likely a failure of the membrane and the expansion vessel must be replaced (if with a fixed membrane) or the membrane must be replaced (if with an interchangeable membrane). If, however, the above check is not sufficient, it is possible to disconnect the vessel from the system, preload it to a defined value and carry out the recheck after 24 hours; if the pressure has significantly decreased, then the membrane is no longer efficient. Any checks or adjustments must be carried out by qualified and authorized personnel.
